The Presidents And The Ufos

Presidents Reagan and Carter see UFO's

One prevailing myth among UFO skeptics is that only uneducated, easily confused country folk see this phenomenon. The fact is, many high-ranking officials, military officers, pilots, scientists, astronauts and others have reported sightings. The list also includes two U.S. Presidents. This article will discuss these Presidents.

President Ronald Reagan told Norman C. Miller, of the Wall Street Journal, "I looked out the window and saw this white light. It was zigzagging around. I went up to the pilot and said, "Have you ever seen anything like that?" He was shocked and he said, "Nope." And I said to him, “Let’s follow it!” Reagan went on to say, “We followed it for several minutes. It was a bright white light. We followed it to Bakersfield, and all of a sudden to our utter amazement, it went straight up into the heavens. When I got off the plane I told Nancy all about it."

President Reagan seemed to be affected tremendously by what he saw. It has been reported that Mr. Reagan would often talk about the subject. Even in his speeches, Reagan often referred to an extraterrestrial threat. In one famous speech he said, "With our obsession with antagonisms of the moment, we often forget how much unites all the members of humanity. I occasionally think how quickly our differences, worldwide, would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world."

Jimmy Carter, another U.S. President, also had a sighting. Carter said, "It was the darndest thing I've ever seen. It was big, it was very bright, it changed colors, and it was about the size of the moon. We watched it for ten minutes, but none of us could figure out what it was. One thing's for sure: I'll never make fun of people who say they've seen unidentified flying objects in the sky."

Mr. Carter vowed, during his campaign, to open all government UFO files if he was elected president. "If I become President, I'll make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and scientists. I am convinced that UFOs exist because I have seen one." Of course, this was not to be under Carter’s term, and many think, it has yet to occur.

Although it is good to be skeptical, one should look into the facts before making silly statements. It should be stated that UFO stands for, “Unidentified Flying Object”. UFO’s are just that, unidentified. Many can be explained by conventional means, many cannot. What these two Presidents saw may never be fully understood, but they believed it was a UFO, and we trusted these men enough to elect them.
